Calvin is my hero, the kid I wanted to be or to have. Funny, naughty, smart and a total dreamer.
I hope you all enjoyed my Tumblr takeover and that you liked getting a glimpse into my passions. With this I am saying goodbye! Love, Mimma.

Women I love, who inspire me

Michelle Obama. This one does not need words, does she?

Greta Gerwig is the “Renaissance woman” of my dreams. She is brilliant at whatever she does but most of all she is interesting, and cultivated and smart and nice. I have interviewed her 2 years ago: I was intrigued by her before and became a total admirer after.

Christiane Amanpour. One of the best newscasters ever, she is brave and true and is extremely good at interviewing difficult politicians.

Well, I just could not help this one…

I want to do it,” her letter to her husband added. “Women must try to do these things as men have tried. When they fail, their failure must be a challenge”. These are words by Amelia Earhart, the legendary aviator who disappeared over the Pacific at age 39 whilst trying to be the first woman to fly around the world in 1937.

Podcasts that I listen to

image

POD SAVE AMERICA, by Jon Favreau, Dan Pfeiffer, Jon Lovett and Tommy Vietor, after leaving Washington and the Obama Administration, created this Pod to discuss politics, the press and the challenges posed by the Trump Administration with politicians, comedians and activists. An essential listen during my lazy Sunday mornings.

Nick Bilton interviews informed people in politics, tech and culture in general to find out their drives and inspirations, their decision making process, their ideas, worries and mentors.

My unsuspecting mentors for journalism and writing.

The late Ingrid Sischy (left) was the best interviewer and the great Graydon Carter (right), Former Editor in Chief of Vanity Fair, is the smartest, and most interesting journalist. I miss them both.

I read these every day. I spend hours on Saturday morning with the weekend editions of both newspapers. I love the opinion pages and I look forward to Saturday’s “Lunch with the FT”

TOKYO and MUMBAI have always been among my favourite cities.

Tokyo is beautiful, a real 24 hour metropolis, stimulating and incredibly civilised. Mumbai (but I still prefer to call it Bombay) is the epitome of India, a very important country in my spiritual life. I have been traveling to India and Bombay for 20 years now, and I never tire to go back. I was at the Taj Mahal hotel the night before the terrorist attacks of 2008. I was already in my little safe Ayurvedic Paradise in the South when it happened, and that probably saved my life.

Horseback riding in Arizona
My happy place is on the back of a horse, in the most beautiful nature; a week a year is enough to restore my faith in humanity.

I have been a “Tedster” for 10 years now. I have saved or renounced holidays for it. I have met the most amazing people in my life, learned, laughed, cried and changed some stubborn points of view in the process.

And these are my most recent loves in film. Either great acting, or great directing, or a profound story, these films are the ones I want to watch again and again to every time learn new emotions or be blown away by pure talent.

These films still resonate with me, they all mark a time in my life where I was starting or learning, and they helped me to understand important things which made me who I am today.

These are some of the books that marked me and my cultural path. There are many more, but I chose the ones I would bring to my desert island.

Biofabrication, design informed by biology, these are some of the solutions for a better and sustainable future. I learned so much when I became an advisor of Modern Meadow and helped launch ZOA, the first organic leather made entirely in a lab. We can’t keep exhausting the planet, but we have the technology and the brains to imitate nature and create perfect products in labs.
